The QLD Pirates recently competed at the 2019 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championships in Chinese Taipei. This was the first time the QLD Pirates have taken the court on an international stage, facing off against teams from across Asia.
The invitation to participate in this competition was a result of the QLD Pirates claiming victory during the 2018 Australian Volleyball League, an incredible accomplishment they have achieved six times in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and, of course, 2019.
Placed in the same pool as the host country, Chinese Taipei, as well as strong teams from Kuwait and Singapore, the QLD Pirates had a tough road ahead.
Finishing an honourable 8th place on an international stage, the QLD Pirates set an exciting precedent for the future of volleyball in Queensland and with the experience gained from this tour, the QLD Pirates will be back stronger than every for the 2019 AVL series later this year.
