Junior Schools Cup, the last of the Volleyball Queensland’s Schools Cup tournaments for 2018, was held from 19-21 October and welcomed 157 teams and 1,300 athletes from 60 schools.
This year, Junior Schools Cup was held across two venues on the Gold Coast, Coomera Indoor Sports Centre and the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre at Carrara. Following three days of impressive competition, Craigslea State High School successfully claimed the title of Junior Schools Cup Champions with a total of 223 points.
Volleyball Queensland’s Events Manager, Damien Searle, commented that like the preceding Schools Cup tournaments this year, JSC didn’t fail to deliver. “The 2018 Junior Schools Cup went exceptionally well and again, it was great to see volleyball being enjoyed by students across Queensland.” He continued, “Sunday was also a highlight of the tournament as all divisions were able to be accommodated at Carrara, creating a great competitive atmosphere for the final day of competition”.
As with all of VQ’s school tournaments, the successful delivery would not be possible without the support of the broader community including its community of schools, teachers, parents, students, and coaches. Volleyball Queensland would also like to congratulate all athletes and staff who participated in this year’s JSC.
