Volleyball QLD celebrates 50 years

Earlier this month, Volleyball Queensland celebrated its milestone 50^th year with a Golden Jubilee celebration at Hillstone St Lucia.

Volleyball in Queensland has experienced impressive growth over the past 50 years and has produced some incredible home-grown talent including Commonwealth and Olympic Games athletes Natalie Cook, Taliqua Clancy, and Thomas Edgar, as well as up-and-comers Mark Nicolaidis and Phoebe Bell.

Celebrating the 50^th anniversary with a gala dinner, members of the Queensland volleyball community reminisced about past triumphs and celebrated its ongoing, and record-breaking, participation at all levels.

President of Volleyball Queensland, Boris Georgieff, commented on the anniversary saying:

“It’s been exciting to witness the passion for volleyball grow in Queensland and our Golden Jubilee celebration provided a great opportunity to reflect on our history and look forward to the promise of the future.

 “Queensland has a strong sporting legacy and the performance of our home-grown volleyball talent is no exception with Volleyball Queensland proudly boasting the championships for all national volleyball competitions.”

Volleyball Queensland is the home of beach and indoor volleyball in Queensland, comprising of over 7000 members and 25 commercial and affiliate clubs.
