The 2018 Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships were held during April in Bunbury, Western Australia, where the Queensland teams continued Volleyball Queensland’s legacy, claiming the Andy Burdin Shield for the fourth consecutive year.
Represented by a delegation of 25 teams, the Queensland athletes fought hard, claiming first place in U15B, U17G, U17B, U19G, and U19B; second place in U19G; and third place in U15B, U17G, U17B, and U19G. Teams also performed well against fierce competition earning fifth place in the U15B, U17G, and U19B divisions, and eighth in the U17G, U17B, and U19B divisions.
Kylie Marshall, VQ’s State Teams Coordinator, was confident in this year’s teams and their ability to successfully represent QLD at the tournament. “Our athletes are encouraged to participate regularly in QBVT events, providing them with a wealth of experience competing against well-seasoned athletes. Additional training with our dedicated coaching team further develops these skills allowing them to excel at AJBVC”.
Volleyball Queensland would like to congratulate all athletes and coaches who participated in AJBVC; thank the coaches, athletes, and parents who supported this program; and applaud Volleyball WA for hosting a fantastic event.
